AHIA Future Plans under consideration

        AHIA’s future plans and activities are driven by its main objectives.

1.      Promote Hindi language

       2.      Organise cultural activities and functions

       3.      Promote social and welfare activities

       4.      Promote awareness of Indian traditions.


Plans for 2014/15

Current years plans designed to promote these objectives are:

Hindi language

  1. Hold competition in Hindi debates, antakashari or kavi samelsn etc.  (Progress at least one of the above three items in the current year.) 

Cultural Activities

  1. Introduction of two running trophies by AHIA for music and Bollywood dancing in  annual competition, under the supervision and guidance  of Avijit Sarkar of the Natraj Academy .

Social and Welfare activities

3.      Continue with Seniors Monthly meetings and senior’s picnics /cruises - highly successful and papular existing programs.

4.      Continue with Sansdesh – the monthly news letter, emails and web to communicate with the members.

5.      Promote utilisation of government run Dementia Day Care Centres respite facilities for our senior members. 

6.      Introduction of counselling services for senior members for dementia, depression and other psychiatric disorders.

7.      Start monthly get-togethers of young seniors.  Format and proposed activities will be determined based upon ‘brainstorming’ membership meetings.  

Integrate with the main community

8.      Participate in City to Surf, Clean Australia Day and Blood Donation.

Internal Management

  1. Implement integrated membership, event and web content management system to improve productivity.  
  2. Improve accuracy of membership data to enable communication with members using email only as decided at the last AGM.
